Earlier this year, Jessica proved herself a viable solo star with "Fly," her debut release that performed impressively on the singles and albums chart in Korea, Japan and America. Months later, the former Girls' Generation member is already back to showcase a new side of herself with her latest release "Wonderland."
While "Fly" was a catchy-yet-safe R&B-pop sound for Jessica to dip her toes into the music world, "Wonderland" is much more ambitious with its zippy, house-inspired dance production. The song's exuberant chorus has the same uplifting, empowering feel as the anthemic "Fly," as Ms. Jung seamlessly jumps from English to Korean lyrics about a love that's a "shooting star, day dream cotton candy fantasy."
The accompanying video brings the "Wonderland" theme to a winter paradise as the viewer watches a newly honey-blonde Jessica frolicking and dancing through snowy France and Switzerland. There's a major dedication to her art here as we see our girl literally filming dance sequences in short dresses in the snowy mountains—no CGI here, folks!—all to truly nail the wintry vibe we're all feeling right now.
"Wonderland" is the title track of Jessica's new EP that, just like Fly, sees the singer writing and composing several songs. Jess is the sole songwriter on the lead single, plus standouts like the house-y cut "Dancing on the Moon" and the slinky synth cut "Celebrate." Preview Wonderland via Apple Music below:
