Disney XD is bringing DuckTales back to TV in summer 2017 with a whole new series (of the same name). Today Entertainment Weekly revealed the news along with a quick teaser, the message of which is: Scrooge McDuck is still all about stacking up those coins.
The new DuckTales' first art debuted in EW back in March—it looked pleasantly analog, something the mid-20th-century Donald Duck comics would smile at. The original TV series ran for four seasons from 1987-1990, the year DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp hit theaters and made $18 million in the U.S.
In addition to Scrooge, Donald, Huey, Dewey and Louie, Disney XD's take on DuckTales will feature Launchpad McQuack, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose and the character EW calls "vampy sorceress/LGBT icon" Magica De Spell. "Webbigail 'Webby' Vanderquack (the granddaughter of Scrooge’s maid, Mrs. Beakley) also joins the fun," the mag notes, "in a seemingly more regular role this time around."
DuckTales Season 1 will run 21 episodes, plus two hourlong specials. Next, try out Fuse's new nostalgia podcast Besterday, hosted by Emilee Lindner and Bianca Gracie:
