We're more than three years away from DC's Green Lantern Corps, so get ready for a lonnnng stretch of rumors, news, teasers and Pop! Dolls. Today's story, via "multiple people with knowledge of the project" chatting with The Wrap, is intriguing: Tom Cruise, Jake Gyllenhaal, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper and Armie Hammer are reportedly on the shortlist for Hal Jordan, a.k.a. Green Lantern himself.

Oh, and.Ryan Reynolds. Which has us questioning this whole thing, because he's already Marvel's Deadpool, and he trashed 2011's poorly received, CGI-littred Green Lantern plenty in the lead-up to his 2016 debut as the much more foul-mouthed antihero.

The Wrap says this is all in "the very early stages, and there are no talks with any of the actors as of yet." They note that Cooper auditioned for the last Green Lantern, as did Jared "Eventually the Joker in Suicide Squad" Leto. The new flick will be written by David Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman) and Justin Rhodes (Contract Killers, Grassroots). No director's been named yet.

Green Lantern and the whole Corps will at some point join DC's expanded movie universe, with a Justice League overlap already promised.
