Okay, James Van Der Beek portraying Diplo in Mad Decent Block Party's weird-as-fuck commercial was cute and all, but do we really need to see him do that for an entire show? Well, according to Deadline, it's happening, folks. Viceland picked up a comedy series titled What Would Diplo Do?

In addition to starring as a fictional version of the entertainer, the actor also wrote the script and executive produced the show with Diplo. Deadline states Diplo’s longtime manager Kevin Kusatsu and video director Brandon Dermer are part of the project as well. “The show doesn’t take itself too serious but it’s not cynical,” Van Der Beek said.

The series, which is described as “Louie meets WorldstarHipHop crossed with This Is Spinal Tap," will run for six episodes and is set to premiere later this year. At this point, a Dawson's Creek reunion sounds more ideal than watching a Diplo show that doesn't star Diplo. But Joshua Jackson already crushed those dreams.
