Jamie Foxx is a bona fide actor, singer, comedian, father and...game show host? Yes, the entertainer has added hosting duties to his roster, as he will be the face of Fox's Beat Shazam. The news was announced at the Television Critics Association press tour, Deadline reports.
The interactive musical game show is based on the Shazam app, and will be executive produced by both Foxx and The Voice producer Mark Burnett. Don’t Forget the Lyrics creator Jeff Apploff and Shazam Entertainment Limited are also part of the project. “Jamie is a quadruple-threat and creative genius,” Burnett said in a statement. “He is an incredible actor, comedian, singer and dancer. Also, his musical knowledge is so great that he could probably...Beat Shazam.”
In the show, two teams will go head to head as they try to identify some of the most popular songs in history. In the end, the team with the highest score will go against Shazam for the chance to win a cash prize. The categories will range from "'80s Favorites" to "Beyoncé Hits."
Beat Shazam will premiere on Fox this summer. Before then, watch Adrian Grenier and Michael Ian Black share stories about their first gigs and stand-up sets with Fuse:
