Original story (1/30): The drama in Mariah Carey's life has been well-documented as of late—her New Years Eve performance controversy on national television plus all the crazy antics on her reality show Mariah's World—but she's setting the record straight on her love life with new single "I Don't."
Mimi shared a preview of the forthcoming, YG-featuring track that sees the singer venturing into a more hip-hop territory with the cut's minimal, 808 beat. Mimi's clever lyricism is still on point as she smoothly sings through the chorus, "'Cause when you love someone you just don't treat them bad / You messed up what we had / Probably think I'm coming back / But I don't." Preview it below:
As Mariah's World viewers know, Carey wrote the song in response to her breakup with fiancé James Packer. "I think we both need to just cut the shit and recognize...why I can't go through with this," Mariah told her manager in the midst of wedding planning. "I can't, I can't do it, how can I do this?"
Will more be revealed when we can hear "I Don't" in full? The song premieres on Feb. 3. While you wait, watch a special clip from classic Fuse show On the Record where Mariah shares her favorite Mariah song:
