Last week, Amy Schumer's new stand-up hour The Leather Special premiered on Netflix, her first for the streaming service and comedian haven. And while the Trainwreck star's stock has taken some hits in the last year or so, the comedy site Splitsider noticed that something might be amiss with The Leather Special's user ratings.

After finding multiple news stories highlighting the fact that poor reviews were flooding in, Splitsider discovered Reddit campaigns dedicated to smearing Leather. Numerous examples reside on a Donald Trump–supporting subreddit. One post is headlined, "To those that still have Netflix; Netflix just added a new Amy Schumer special, please go and 1 star that piece of shit."

The Wrap, in one of the original stories simply spotlighting the rampant bad reviews, noted that Trevor Noah's three-week-old Netflix special Afraid of the Dark has far fewer reviews, standing as of this publication at 415. Schumer has speedily rocketed to 1,452.

Splitsider dug up similar orchestrated movements to tank the Amazon rating for Schumer's August 2016 book The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo.

Schumer posted the Splitsider article on Instagram, saying that "this is what the current administration wants" and that "it's indicative of administration right now." She also heartily thanked the trolls, closing her lengthy note with:

"It fills me with hope and power to see you all furiously posting so as always accuse me of whatever lies you want. Call me a whale. Call me a thief and I will continue to rise and fight and lead. I know who I am. I am strong and beautiful and will use my voice my whole time on this earth. Journalists do better it's embarrassing. Trolls see you on the next one!"
