Record Store Day 2017 is one month away, and the polymath My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has you covered with Into the Cave We Wander. Should you be intrepid enough to score one of the 5,000 12" picture discs on April 22, you'll get two songs, "Pogi's Cavern" and the title track. Both were co-written and recorded with My Chem guitarist Ray Toro.

The pair, you may recall, released the "Into the Cave We Wander" tune as a limited edition cassette at New York Comic Con 2016. It was given out at the panel presentation for Young Animal, Way's DC Comics imprint.

What's *way* cooler than just two new songs is the fact that Into the Cave We Wander is a tie-in with Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye, the comic book Gerard Way and co-writer Jon Rivera launched last fall through Young Animal.

All Things Loud has a few more details on the Record Store Day release:

“The 12” picture disc comes in a clear vinyl sleeve and includes the following: a 32-page comic featuring an all-new three-page story by Gerard Way and Michael Allred; previews of four of DC’s Young Animal comics—Doom Patrol, Shade, The Changing Girl, Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye and Mother Panic; and an 11”x 17” poster featuring characters from each of the series, drawn by Nick Derington."

Earlier this year we learned that Gerard Way is working on "really weird" new music and contributing to Femme Magnifique, a Kickstarter-funded hardcover comic compilation saluting 50 "female trailblazers of yesterday and today." He will pen the story about Joan of Arc, working with artist Marley Zarcone.
