'Spider-Man' Villain Venom Is Finally Getting His Own Movie in 2018

Can we all say a collective "It's about time!" because Sony announced that a Venom spinoff is in the works. Yes, one of the sickest villains in Marvel Comics' Spider-Man series is finally getting his own movie. Since Warner Bros.' Aquaman is now pushed to a Dec. 21, 2018 release, Venom is set for an Oct. 5, 2018 premiere date.

The spinoff will be written by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (Stephen King’s The Dark Tower adaptation). Alex Kurtzman (June's The Mummy reboot) is reportedly directing. While this is the first standalone film for Venom, the devilish alien has previously appeared in 2007's Spider-Man 3 (played by Topher Grace).
