Sometimes you have to be a late night talk show host when you just want to be a singer. Such is the life of James Corden, who once again found a way to tap into his true tuneful self by having a "diva riff-off" with Demi Lovato on Wednesday night.

They proceeded to go back and forth through the ages with some Adele and Katy Perry (both by Lovato) and Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin (Corden). Demi managed to slip one of her own songs in, and they wrapped with a classic we won't spoil.

The Late Late Show diva riff-off was backed by a cappella group Level. In a bit of setup narrative, Lovato came out in response to the Brit's assertion that "Divas back then were just better than divas are today. Do you know what I mean? They didn't have Instagram, they just had sass, voice, songs."
