Kingsman: The Secret Service launched an unlikely franchise in 2015, showing equal commitment to comedy and actual Bond/Bourne–level secret agent action. After making $414 million globally, the series is back with No. 2, Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Today's debut trailer for the sequel goes light on the plot, instead promising us more top-shelf action, international locales and a bunch of new stars.
Oh, and Colin Firth is back, contrary to what you'd believe having seen the first one. (Or exactly as you'd believe, knowing how Hollywood works.)
This time the Kingsman organization is teaming with their American equivalent, the Statesman, which employs the fantastically named Agent Tequila (Channing Tatum), Agent Whiskey (Pedro Pascal) and Agent Champagne (Jeff Bridges). Julianne Moore is also on board, as is Halle Berry, playing Ginger, the same name she had in 2001's Swordfish. The more you know.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle opens Sept. 27. Writer/director Matthew Vaughn is returning; he also helmed X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass, which, like Kingsman, is based on a Mark Millar comic. Jane Goldman is once again teaming with him on the screenplay.
