Nicki Minaj on Mariah Carey Spat: "I've Been in Worse Situations"

And those worse situations were called "9 to 5 jobs"
 / November 21, 2012

Nicki Minaj recently sat down with Fuse's Matte Babel and they got right down to the nitty-gritty: How does Nicki really feel about that whole feud with American Idol co-judge Mariah Carey

Some newer Nicki fans might not realize Minaj guested on Mariah Carey's Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel track, "Up Out My Face." When the two shot the Barbie-inspired video for the song, things seemed kosher (and even kind of adorably friendly) on the Nicki-Mariah front. And they were! "We had fun on that set!" Nicki says about the video. "That's what made me fall in love with Mariah, and that's what made me think we'd have a lot of fun on Idol."

But, as we all know, that didn't happen. And Nicki, along with the rest of us, "was kind of shocked." Despite her frequent freak-outs and blow-ups, Nicki manages to keep some perspective on the whole thing, even if the two haven't smoothed things over 100 percent yet: "I've been in worse situations. Lemme tell you, I've worked at places where, at times, I just wanted to jump out the window. My 9-to-5s... If I could deal with that, I could deal with this. It's all good." Golf clap for Nicki, ladies and gents.

The "Freedom" rapper also chats about the task of joining American Idol, keeping up with her public persona and not realizing there'd be a wide shot during the interview and we'd be able to see her Hello Kitty slippers. Whoops.
