ScHoolboy Q on His Album vs. Kendrick Lamar's: "I'm Better Than Him, So It's a Layup"

ScHoolboy Q loves Kendrick Lamar like a brother—and that means there's more than enough healthy competition between the Black Hippy MCs.

Case in point: When Fuse's Esteban Serrano sat down with ScHoolboy Q, the South Central L.A. rapper promises he's about to steal Lamar's slot at the top. "Kendrick Lamar is everybody's favorite rapper," ScHoolboy Q admits to Fuse. "But I'm gonna be there and take Kendrick's spot. He knows I'm coming for it."

Q also tells Fuse his major label debut, Oxymoron, is coming later this year. "I'm actually done [with it]. But if my sh-t ain't as good or better than [good kid, m.A.A.d city], it ain't coming out."

Given that good kid was the most acclaimed hip hop album of 2012, that's an ambitious goal. But ScHoolboy Q doesn't seem too worried about matching Kendrick's high water mark. "He dropped a classic, but it's a layup cause I'm better than him," Q says. "He's my brother and I love him to death but I'm better than all those n****s in Black Hippy."
