Watch: Trailer for TLC Biopic 'CrazySexyCool'
Almost two years after VH1 first announced plans for a biopic about '90s lady group TLC, the movie, called CrazySexyCool, has been given an October release date—and the trailer has officially arrived! Watch above.
The trailer proves that VH1 nailed their portrayal of the late trio. Actress Keke Palmer, who starred in 2006's Akeelah and the Bee, is a dead ringer for Chilli; "Lip Gloss" rapper Lil Mama captures the goofy swag of the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes; and actress/singer Drew Sidora plays a convincing T-Boz.
If the trailer is any indication, CrazySexyCool focuses on TLC's positive career points (iconic music videos, massive album sales, record-breaking tours) rather than the unfortunate events that plagued the group (millions in debt, arrests, Left Eye's untimely death).
Confirmed details are sparse, but the biopic does have a few big names already attached: screenwriter Kate Lanier (What's Love Got To Do With It, Beauty Shop) penned the script, while T-Boz and Chilli served as consultants and executive producers. Just three more months until its arrival, guys!
Also, following the film's release, T-Boz and Chilli are planning a major U.S. tour (featuring Lopes on a projection screen) and a new album.
