New Orleans MC August Alsina Details Trey Songz & Chris Brown Collabo

More than eight months after its release in January, New Orleans rapper August Alsina's single "I Luv This Sh-t," a collabo with Trinidad James, is climbing the Billboard Hot 100 and this week hit No. 71. Expect it to continue rising, too, as the 21-year-old has recruited two heavyhitters, Chris Brown and Trey Songz, for its official remix. Alsina dropped by Fuse HQ to discuss his slow-burning hit single.

"It's crazy, man! That record has been out since January [and] it's now September ...what?!" Alsina says the track, first included on his mixtape The Product 2 and also featured on the just-dropped EP Downtown: Life Under the Gun. "It was supposed to be a buzz single, just to make some noise. When the label saw the reaction to the video, they thought, 'Oh! We have something!'"

The single's video has earned more than 6.5 million YouTube views since its February premiere. The track also grabbed the attention of R&B heavy hitter Songz.

"Trey reached out to me and was like, 'I like what you're doing. I did something for you, send me an email,'" he explains. "It was his verse to 'I Luv This.' When I heard it, I thought, 'I got to get Chris [Brown]!' This has never been done, Chris and Trey on a song together, let's make it happen!" No official release date has been announced for the remix, but Alsina recently previewed a snippet of the track on Instagram.
