Sky Ferreira Is a Glam-Rock Maneater in "You're Not the One" Video
After more than three years of delays, singer-model-actress Sky Ferreira is finally releasing her debut full-length, Night Time, My Time, on October 29. Good news: Ferreira's just-released single "You're Not the One" suggests the wait was worth it.
Produced by Ariel Rechtshaid (Charli XCX, Major Lazer, HAIM), the '80s pop-rock update is laced with catchy hooks, but drips with the melancholy found in the indie darling's recent tracks, like the Rechtshaid-produced "Everything Is Embarrassing."
The video showcases the 21-year-old as a kinky, glam-rock boyfriend snatcher, seducing a slew of partners. She cuts one with a shiv mid-makeout, he slaps her in retaliation, then Ferreira runs into the club's neon lights. Later, the Los Angeles native wakes up alone in a deserted forest. Heavy.
Ferreira's rise has had its downsides, however: The singer and her boyfriend Zachary Cole Smith, frontman of Brooklyn indie band DIIV, were charged with a number of offenses, including possession of ecstasy and heroin, respectively. Smith later claimed "Sky did nothing wrong." Hey, any press is good press... right?
