ScHoolboy Q's "Man of the Year" Video Is All Bikinis & Booty
As brilliant as Kendrick Lamar is, many hip hop heads say ScHoolboy Q is the better technical rapper in Black Hippy. Be that as it may, Q certainly isn't the most interesting auteur when it comes to his music videos.
The clip for his Oxymoron track "Man of the Year" is a painfully obvious affair with egregious shots of the three B's: Beaches, bikinis and booties. After all, it's not like the world needs another music video featuring a rapper surrounded by both the literal sea and a sea of breasts.
On the plus side, the song "Man of the Year"—which samples "Cherry" from Portland electronic outfit Chromatics—is pretty damn great. And it's not like Q can't pull a killer clip together. His last video—the trippy, kaleidoscopic "Collard Greens"—was a lot more interesting, so hopefully he'll step it up as further Oxymoron videos roll out ahead of the record's 2/25 release.
