Hardwell Talks Debut Studio Album, Working With Justin Bieber

He's No. 1 DJ in the world and he's never put out an album. Dutch DJ Hardwell sat down with Fuse News host Liz Walaszczyk at Ultra Music Festival last week to discuss how—and why—that's possible.

"I’m working on my first artist album... I have about 40 tracks laying around," the producer explained. "I’ve been working on it for about a year, it will be released after the summer. I think it’s still 40% done. I’m not happy with all the tracks."

Hardwell is something of a perfectionist, only settling for songs that are club-ready. "If I only make radio-friendly records, it’s not going to fit in my set at all. That’s why I always aim for the dance floor. If it’s a crossover song then I’m really happy with that. It’s not that I hate the radio, I would love for the radio to pick up my songs.”

The DJ has attracted some of the biggest names in music, including Justin Bieber. "Scooter Braun is meeting up with my manager! I don’t know what’s going to happen. As a producer I think I would do that. It has nothing to do with Hardwell. In general if a pop artist asked me to make beats for him or just make a song, I would do that, definitely. Why not?”
