Is Shakira's Blake Shelton Duet Better Than Christina Aguilera's?
Last night at the 2014 Academy of Country Music Awards, Shakira made her first foray into the Nashville scene by performing her new duet "Medicine" with Blake Shelton. While we're hesitant to call the collaboration straight-up country, "Medicine" incorporates the genre's signature steel guitars and fiddles while The Voice judges sing about choosing a lover instead of a bottle of whiskey or popping pills. Watch above to hear the track live and learn more about the song's backstory at our complete guide to Shakira's new album.
While longtime country fans may have been shocked to see the "Empire" songstress onstage at Nashville's biggest award show, it's hardly the first time Shelton has dabbled in the pop world.
Another fellow Voice coach, Christina Aguilera, enlisted the Oklahoma-bred singer for "Just a Fool," the second single off her 2012 album Lotus. Watch the two perform their duet on The Voice below:
"Just a Fool" peaked at a respectable-but-not-fantastic No. 71 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 2012. Meanwhile, Shaki and Shelton's "Medicine" has yet to crack the Hot 100, but did make a bow on the Country Airplay chart last week at No. 57.
But we want to know YOUR thoughts! Which was your favorite, Shelton with Shakira or Christina?
