Kendrick Lamar Covers Tupac's "California Love"
Last night at the first iHeartRadio Awards, the new Michael Jackson premiered - but that wasn't the only great moment to come out of the evening. Kendrick Lamar played tribute to Tupac by covering his classic joint "California Love," which segued into his own tune, "m.A.A.d City."
The performance was introduced by Imagine Dragons' frontman Dan Reynolds and was accompanyied by a little interview with Lamar, who shared a nice memory of the day he got a glimpse of greatness. It all started when his dad stumbled on a video shoot.
"He see Pac and Dre shooting a video at the Compton Swap Meet," Lamar said. "I was at the house a few blocks down. I'm a kid, like eight years old. He pulled up and say "Pac and Dre, they shooting a video, want to come?"
"Legendary," he said with a smile. "That's a moment I'd never forget."
