Damon Albarn Hypes Up New Gorillaz Tracks

The Blur frontman reveals that he's written "quite a few" songs on the road this week for the beloved virtual band

It's been a whirlwind week for Blur frontman Damon Albarn, who played two of the country's biggest music festivals back-to-back.

"I was just so turned up last weekend for Governors Ball and then just did a few gigs in between waiting for today," the British singer-songwriter told Fuse. He then revealed that he had put his time to good use leading up to Bonnaroo by penning new material for the crowd favorite virtual band Gorillaz.

"I've written quite a lot of songs on the road this week for Gorillaz. I find a lot of my material for Gorillaz comes when I'm in America. There's an affinity there with it," Albarn explained.

In fact, one of the most incredible festival moments occurred when Albarn brought out De La Soul and Chicago-based brass ensemble Hypnotic Brass for a performance of "Feel Good, Inc.," effectively sending the main stage crowd back to Summer 2005.

Albarn also revealed some of his biggest musical influences, naming the likes of David BowieBobby Womack and Tony Allen.
