Jennifer Lopez Talks Working With Iggy Azalea, Chris Brown, Pitbull & More

J.Lo's latest album 'A.K.A.' boasts of a ridiculous number of collaborations. Learn how they came about!

Jennifer Lopez's latest album, A.K.A., features numerous A-list collaborators. After all, who wouldn't want to work with J.Lo? Jenny From the Block recently sat down with Fuse and explained linking up with each of her A.K.A. collaborators.

For "I Luh Ya Papi," the first single, Lopez tapped French Montana because she "wanted a rapper from the Bronx." While in Atlanta working on a movie, she met up with the fellow Bronx artist. "I played him a couple things from the album and I told him, 'I want you to do 'Same Girl.' He said, 'Well, I want to do 'I Luh Ya Papi,' too.' I was like, 'Okay!' He wound up getting on the record."

She also asked Iggy Azalea to work with her, and it's first time she's ever worked with a female rapper. "I heard her on record. I didn't know what she looked like. I didn't know who she was. It was her sound. Her sound sounded like a girl walking down the street in Brooklyn," J.Lo says. "She had a kind of glam style to her. I was like, 'You know what? This is kind of perfect.' She's going to talk the talk I need her to talk on this record. We're on the same page stylistically."

And Chris Brown? "Chris was doing some writing for me and he had a whole bunch of tracks that had been sent to him. We were listening and we came across a track where he said, 'I think this is a song J.Lo should do.' I was like, 'Okay, that will never happen.' But at the end of the day I played it for my kids and they loved it. There's always this danger in taking yourself too seriously, and I'm not that person. And I realized it's just a fun song. And Chris wrote something great to it.

"Then of course Pitbull got on it and sealed the whole deal. You just have a chemistry with certain people! You develop such a relationship with that when they call, no matter what they ask you to do, you're like, 'Okay, I'm going to do it.'"

And obviously, the results speak for themselves.
