Hear "Rapt," The First Single From Karen O's Upcoming Solo Debut

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman explores her lo-fi side on the two-minute track

Karen O has been fairly quiet this year. She spent the majority of 2013 on the road with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in support of their latest full-length, Mosquito, and later earned a Oscar-nomination for her work on the soundtrack for Her—not too shabby.

It seemed like the rockstar was taking a break, but apparently O was silently working on her debut solo albumCrush Songs. Today she has shared the upcoming release's first single and video, titled "Rapt."

The track is decidedly lo-fi, a heartbreaking tune about the crushing power of, well, crushing. In a handwritten statement about the upcoming album, O wrote, "When I was 27, I crushed a lot. I wasn't sure I'd ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever-continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours."  If "Rapt," is any indication, they totally will!

Crush Songs will drop September 8 via Julian Casablancas of the Strokes' label, The Cult.
