Betty Who Spills All On Internet Fame, Her LGBT Fanbase & Katy Perry

We caught up with the Australian pop star at Lollapalooza and got her thoughts on her tour, which will keep her busy through the fall

Australian pop star Betty Who is on the rise! We caught up with her at Lollapalooza last weekend to talk about everything from Katy Perry to internet fame to seeing familiar fans on the road.

"I'm going all over America all throughout October," the singer/songwriter tells Fuse. "I play the House of Blues in Chicago. I'm playing all of my favorite cities. I think almost every city I'm playing I've been to before. It's going to be nice to see some old faces and hopefully some new faces."

This time around, she's bigger than ever before, due in large part to her viral video hit, "Somebody Loves You." Internet fame can be fleeting, but it doesn't seem to bother Who.

"I'll take what I can get," she says. "I'm glad that more people found out who I am [through the video]. I don't resent the video or talking about it at all. It's when people are like, 'Oh, that just like, totally put you on the map.' I was working really hard before that happened, too. People think the video came out and literally no one knew who I was before... It's weird but it doesn't really matter. I don't really care how you found out about me as long as you like the music and you're excited about it. That's really all that matters."

One thing Who is especially excited about is her massive LGBT following. "Kind of from day one it has been a really big LGBT fanbase," she says. "It wasn't something I set out to be a part of, by any means. I wasn't like, 'I'm going to get the gays.' Having an LGBT fanbase as well as any fans just makes everything so much fun. A lot of people want to dance and it's great." We're sure it is!

Who is often compared to Katy Perry, something she actually appreciates. "I'm such a huge Katy Perry fan!" she gushes. "To me I'm like, 'That's fine! She's the biggest pop star in the world. I'll take it!' I think that we're definitely different. We have so many different styles. I'm opening for Katy in Australia for a month in November. I think once people see us back-to-back they'll probably hear the comparison and realize how different we are. I am so excited to even get to be in her proximity. I think she's just one of the most talented and charismatic people in the world. I'm so happy to be a part of it."
