Perry Farrell Talks First Lollapalooza, Paul McCartney Headlining 2015
On location at Lollapalooza 2015, watch festival founder Perry Farrell tell Fuse how he conceived the very first Lolla in 1991 and what the word "Lollapalooza" actually means. Farrell goes on to explain how the lineup is selected each year, noting that conversations between artists and the festival often start years in advance. Check out the full video interview in the player above.
In recent years Lollapalooza added Kidzapalooza, a family-friendly area for performances and activities. Considering this year is Lollapalooza's 24th anniversary, Farrell says many of the early attendees now have kids and "still want to come out and experience Lollapalooza."
Plus, Farrell reveals Lollapalooza 2015 headliner Paul McCartney was the first musician he gravitated towards, saying he and his siblings were "Beatle maniacs." All these years later, seeing one of his childhood idols headlining the music festival he started is a full-circle moment for Farrell.
Don't forget, you can watch the Lollapalooza livestream all weekend!
