Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Drop Genre-Bending "Downtown" Single, Video
Following their Ed Sheeran-assisted comeback track "Growing Up," Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have made their official return with an intense new single and music video.
"Downtown" is essentially two completely different songs mashed into one. The verses feature slinky, funky production where Mack raps about mopeds and his scrotum (seriously) as iconic '80s rappers Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee and Grandmaster Caz make awesomely unexpected features for some hip-hop chants. It's paired paired with an arena-rock section where Eric Nally (a.k.a. the singer from Foxy Shazam) does his best Michael Jackson/Freddie Mercury impressions via dramatic belts on the anthemic chorus.
