And Now the Muppets Will Rap N.W.A.'s "Express Yourself" for You
Straight Outta Compton, the $60 million box office smash that terrifically dramatizes N.W.A.'s come-up, has been a great reason to dig back into the group's greatness. (And a great reason for Dr. Dre to drop his first album in 16 years, the very-sharp Compton: A Soundtrack.) It's not all thinkpieces and discussions of the group's troubling misogyny, though. It's also fun craziness like the Muppets spitting "Express Yourself."
Not all the Muppets were up to the task; this one goes mainly to the bear called Fozzie and the frog known as Kermit. (Animal does pound some drums, because this clip wouldn't be respectable otherwise.) The positivity-bursting visual calls frequently and brilliantly on "Movin' Right Along," the inimitable musical moment from The Muppet Movie.
