Halsey Wages War in Post-Apocalyptic "New Americana" Music Video

The up-and-coming singer leads an army of black-clad youth in this expansive new visual

Update (9/25): The whole, entire, complete, full four-and-a-half-minute "New Americana" video has arrived. Watch the latest from our girl Halsey now, and if you're new, go ahead and scope out everything we love about the about-to-turn-21 legend-in-wait.

Original story (9/22): In both versions of her "Ghost" music video, Halsey flirted with intimacy, once with a male lead, another with a female. She expressed her sexuality in really direct ways while managing to confound and delight viewers. With her next single, the revolution-ready "New Americana," it seems the singer is taking on bigger themes of generational war.

It begins like some post-apocalyptic film. Hal fiddles with an emergency radio, is cloaked in white, blue locks following.

Within seconds everything changes. Halsey's rocking her best Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones ass-kicking ensemble, running from authority figures carrying riot gear. She's surrounded by young people of all shapes and sizes, also in similar, sporty uniform, also running away from some masked enemy.

Watch it above, and then stay tuned for the full video when it drops Friday, September 25. In the meantime, read up on why the world needs Halsey and peep our list of 11 times H was right about everything (via Twitter.)
