Watch 5 Seconds of Summer's Michael Clifford Perform With All Time Low

The Aussie musician joined ATL for a cover of Green Day's "American Idiot" and the band's first hit, "Dear Maria, Count Me In"

Friday marked the release of 5 Seconds of Summer's sophomore effort, Sounds Good Feels Good. It's a much more adult record than their first in almost every sense of the word: It's darker, it's brooding, it's complicated. The band performed a few tracks from the album at a Hot Topic in Hollywood (read about that there) which meant their evening was probably pretty free to do whatever the hell they wanted.

The Aussie band are close with All Time Low (frontman Alex Gaskarth has more than a couple writing credits on their discography) so when Michael Clifford decided to join the group at their packed arena gig at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium that night, it was a welcomed surprise, but not a totally unexpected one.

Clifford emerged in the encore for a cover of Green Day's "American Idiot," a tune 5SOS also perform live. Jack Barakat of the band jeered, "Now we have two bad guitar players," and Michael responded with a simple "F*ck You."

The ultimate moment occurred when Michael ripped through ATL's first big hit, "Dear Maria, Count Me In." It's the one that put the Baltimore band on the map, and we can't help but think it's one that inspired Michael to get in on this game in the first place. Playing with your heroes, it's a real reality for these guys. At least we get to bask in the glory.
