Watch Jimmy Kimmel Embarrass Jay Z With a '90s TV Clip

Hov stopped by to talk about his Tidal concert and his love for Brooklyn

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is taking a weeklong vacay from its L.A. home to record in New York City. On Tuesday night, Jay Z swung by before his star-packed Tidal concert at Brooklyn's Barclays Center and touched on a ton of topics, our favorite being the moment a YouTube-famous, washed-out clip of a young-twenties Jay played.

In his first TV appearance, Hov flanked Big Daddy Kane and spat a quick pinball-pace freestyle. (The clip's well-known for its host never introducing Jay by name.) "That was embarrassing," Mr. Carter told Kimmel after the clip rolled. "I said something about 'Jay Z's embarrassing,' and I was a prophet, 'cause that was very embarrassing. The haircut, the shirt..."

Kimmel also broadcasted the Tidal concert performance of "Empire State of Mind," a track that, love it or hate it, has a crazy effect when played in Hov's new home arena (the one that's a half-hour walk from Marcy Projects).

They also riffed about a high school rap battle Jay had with Busta Rhymes, plus Brooklyn gentrification, then pizza and Beyoncé, together.
