The 'Lion King' Sequel Has a Trailer and a Date and No, You Aren't Ready
That sunrise, that music, that rock—Pride Rock! This is Lion King country, kids (of the '90s who've grown from cubs to adults). (Just kidding; even if you were born in 2013, you love The Lion King.) (But how are you reading this, 2-year-old?)
We've known that Disney Channel's official Lion King sequel, The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, was en route for some time. But today we've got a trailer and a release date. Get acquainted with the new crew above. In addition to Simba and Nala's son, Kion, you've got a hippopotamus, a potentially Zazu-ish bird, a cheetah, and...another animal. I'd say "skunk," but it's not a skunk. Ah, wait, press release says it's a honey badger. Ooh, and they've got names: Beshte, Ono, Fuli and Bunga, respectively. Not sure if this film acknowledges The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, the 1998 direct-to-video tale that starred Simba and Nala's daughter, Kiara, and a li'l rascal called Kovu.
