'Degrassi: Next Class' Trailer: Watch The Dramatic Netflix Teaser

The original series got the axe in June, but the update's on the way

Back in June, Degrassi got canceled after 14 seasons. Within days, a new series was announced for 2016. Originally bound for the Family Channel, Degrassi: The Next Class is now being presented by Netflix, that great reviver and enabler of sparkly programming.

With the premiere a little less than two months away, the first Degrassi: The Next Class trailer is here.

The minute-long teaser promises crushes, dream-following, having zero junk in one’s trunk, battling terminal illness as a kid, and the timeless teen pandemic known as “rage-smashing expensive equipment.” It looks pretty damned good. A press release initially promised topics including "homophobia, racism, substance abuse and violence to burgeoning sexuality, body issues, heartbreak and the complications of dating in the social media age."

Season one of Degrassi: The Next Class hits Netflix on January 15, 2016.
