Missy Elliott & Pharrell's "WTF (Where They From)" Video Is Perfect
Okay: It's not too soon to say this is one of the illest music videos we've ever seen. Even if this wasn't a comeback, Missy Elliott's "WTF (Where They From)," featuring Pharrell, is pure, insane genius. The 44-year-old legend's first visual in seven years is a co-directorial effort from Missy and "Get Ur Freak On" helmer Dave Meyers, who's done six of Misdemeanor's last eight videos. (Side note: It's been more than a decade since her last record, July '05's The Cookbook.)
"WTF" features Missy as a human disco ball, Pharrell in marionette form (that's one way to handle someone not having time to hit the video shoot) and magician-style outfit changes.
Movie-ready graffiti credits, a dope young dancer in a DOPE hat, Missy and her backup dancers in BIGGIE beanies (lotta headwear here), fire lipstick game, flawless choreography—this one's got literally everything. Very, very worthy entry to Missy's epic catalog of video work.
"WTF (Where They From)" is available on Spotify now. Merry Thursday.
