Marcedes Lewis On Why R&B Relaxes Him Before Games

The NFL tight end explains how music helps him get ready before taking the field

In a sport not loaded with a ton of elite tight ends, Marcedes Lewis has been one of the most consistent players at his position. Lewis just finished his 10th year in the NFL, playing all of them with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The former first-round pick won the John Mackey Award back in 2005 for being college football's most outstanding tight end. He was also a Pro Football Focus All-Pro and Pro Bowler back in 2010.

While Lewis has been impressive on the field, he has a few methods to get pumped up before the game. "We go out there two hours before the game. I'm listening to alternative rock and rock trying to get my blood flowing and loose," says Lewis. But, when it's closer to kickoff, he enjoys listening to R&B which prepares him to take care of business.
