Donovan Carter Loved 50 Cent's 'Get Rich or Die Tryin''

Plus, the 'Ballers' star opens up about his parents' taste in music

You can say Donovan Carter's career has come full circle. He’s always been passionate about football, and was even a defensive lineman for the UCLA Bruins from 2008-2012. Carter would unfortunately go undrafted during the NFL draft, and was cut from the Oakland Raiders’ mini-camp. Unsure what to do with his life, Carter turned to another passion of his, acting. Last year he landed the role of Vernon Littlefield on HBO’s hit series Ballers, a show centered around a group of football players and their families, friends, and handlers.

In an exclusive interview with the athlete-turned-actor, he opened up about how he bought 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' CD. "I had to ask my friend to buy the CD because my dad wouldn't let me buy CDs with cursing at the time," Carter told us. Carter, who was playing Pop Warner football then, absolutely loved the album and considered it a classic.
