Barenaked Ladies Describe Writing The 'Big Bang Theory' Theme Song

The Canadian rock band told us all about penning the science-heavy tune for America's most popular comedy sitcom

We caught up with the Barenaked Ladies at Beale Street Music Festival to ask them about writing the theme song to the massively popular television series The Big Bang Theory. Turns out the guys love playing the tune live. Singer Ed Robertson told us all about it:

"The theme to 'The Big Bang Theory' has become an integral part of our set. We did it first maybe five years ago, six years ago. We decided to try it in a set and people loved it. I didn't realize it would become such a staple in the live set."

Apparently penning the tune wasn't totally easy—Robertson faced immediate backlash from drummer Tyler Stewart, which proved to be a good thing! Watch above to learn more.

When you're done there, check out our chat with Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie at the very same Memphis fest, wherein he discusses surprising collaborations with Halsey and Sisqó.
