Rob $tone Details His Creative Process: 'I'm a Writer More Than a Freestyler'
Rob $tone's "Chill Bill" continues to rise on the Billboard Hot 100—jumping to No. 50 this week—further proving the San Diego rapper is one of 2016's MCs to watch. Before the world is let in on all his secrets, we had the Fuse First artist share insight into his creation process.
"I'm definitely a writer more than a freestyler," the 21-year-old $tone says. "I've always taken pride in being able to write—even in school, I used to get A's and B's in my essay. In fourth grade I wrote a book...I always find the main feel I want for the song and then I put the words to it. Once I put down the main vocal track, it's pretty much just flow from there."
