#TBT: Miley Cyrus Praises Role Model and Rock Icon Joan Jett

"She's been doing it since she was 17. Her fans are now her age, and I think that's amazing," the "Party in the U.S.A." singer told Fuse in 2010

Fresh off the success of "Party in the U.S.A.," Miley Cyrus was well on her way to becoming a major pop star. In a throwback 2010 interview with Fuse, the singer expressed just how much Joan Jett influenced her growing up.

"[Jett] was no older than me when she wrote 'Bad Reputation,'" Cyrus said. "She's been doing it since she was 17. Her fans are now her age, and I think that's amazing...I take her as a role model influence."

But despite looking up to the rock icon, Cyrus had a clear vision for her own career path.

"I never look at anyone's career and go, 'That's the career I want.' I want my career. I love where I am, and I think that's what makes people special—their different journeys."
