Trip Lee Explains Inspiration Behind Mixtape 'The Waiting Room'
After blowing up charts with his 2014 release Rise, Trip Lee is back with his latest project, The Waiting Room. Out today, the 10-track mixtape serves as a lead-up to the Christian rapper's next studio album.
"On this record, I wanted to just be kind of real and raw about how difficult life is," Lee tells Fuse. "One of the themes that kept popping up in my mind was just how much waiting we have to do in this life...I know that, in this life, all of my dreams are not gonna be fulfilled. There's some stuff that I'ma just have to wait."
"Too Cold," the mixtape's first single, features the work of long-time collaborator Gawvi and speaks on Lee's unwillingness to conform.
"I don't do what I do...to just be like everybody else," the 28-year-old explains. "I never wanna just keep giving people the same record. One of the things I wanted to do with [The Waiting Room] was give people music, a soundtrack, that actually feels like the world they live in."
