#TBT 2005: Pitbull Reveals the Meaning Behind His Name

The Miami native stopped by Fuse's 'Daily Download' to discuss the impact of his debut album and the importance of repping his Latin roots

Before building an international empire as Mr. WorldwidePitbull began his career with roots in Miami's Little Havana. The Dade County native stopped by Fuse's Daily Download back in 2005 to chat about his debut album M.I.A.M.I. and repping Latin culture through his beats.

"I feel like our cultures have so much to offer. I mean, in the Latin culture, we love to have a great time. Our music is all about a lot of energy. The women are off the chain!" he said.

When asked to explain the origins of his name, the rapper candidly compared himself to a pitbull that "just keeps going until it takes care of what it needs to take care of."

"Pitbulls are outlawed in Dade County, so I'm really the only Pitbull in Dade County right now!"
