How would you describe your taste in music?

MANCHESTER, TN - JUNE 13: A general view of atmosphere during day 1 of the 2013 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on June 13, 20

Bonnaroo

Of the largest festivals America has to offer, Bonnaroo is easily the most chill. Taking place on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee over the course of one weekend, Bonnaroo boasts of an eclectic lineup on a few stages—wonder around the grounds and get turned on to something new and exciting! It's massive but manageable. A great option for those new to the festival circuit. Hippies welcome.

CHICAGO, IL - AUGUST 03: A general view of atmosphere at The Grove stage as Bad Things close Saturday night during Lollapaloo

Lollapalooza

Going to a festival doesn't mean sacrificing the luxury of city life. Lollapalooza, Chicago's premier music event, is in the heart of downtown but is also massive: last year capping at a record 300,000 attendees. Lolla started as a farewell tour for Jane's Addiction and has since grown exponentially, this year launching a version of the fest in Argentina. The most music festival-y music festival around, at Lollapalooza you'll see the biggest names of music's past, present and future.

AUSTIN, TX - MARCH 19: Damian Abraham of Fucked Up performs at SPIN's Stubb's event during the third day of SXSW on March 19,

South By Southwest

SXSW is more than a music festival, it's a cultural revelation. The multi-week party has everything from film to technology, but the madness really begins with music. For four days you can catch the buzziest acts around... and a lot of these showcases are free! The only downside: it's super crowded, always. If SXSW is your cup of tea, plan your trip EARLY.

Warped Tour

Punk rock summer camp! The traveling circus is perfect for those who don't want to commit to roadtripping or flying anywhere for a destination festival. The lineup always varies and the show is all day -- but just one day. Reserve your energy and your insanity for a few hours and you'll have the time of your life.

INDIO, CA - APRIL 21: Claire Boucher aka Grimes performs as part of the 2013 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival at the Em

Coachella

Ahhh Coachella, the belly of the music festival beast. This Spring affair is actually in the middle of nowhere -- a few hours outside of LA -- in the desert. It's an oasis of sorts, with the added benefit of headliners like Madonna and Björk, Prince and Kanye West... but remember: you're in the desert. Get prepared to camp. Unfortunately the festival has already sold out with 2014, but here's hoping for next year!

MIAMI, FL - MARCH 23: Atmosphere as Laidback Luke performs at the Ultra Music Festival on March 23, 2013 in Miami, Florida.

Ultra Music Festival

The name of the game is party. Ultra Festival is one of the largest electronic music festivals around, taking place annually in the crazy city of Miami. It's chaos, it's one weekend long, and it will make you dance. If EDM isn't your bag, think of something like Burning Man. More of an experience than a place for music discovery. Stay hydrated, kids!

Ultra Music Festival

It's chaos, it's one weekend long, and it will make you dance. If EDM isn't your bag, think of something like Burning Man. More of an experience than a place for music discovery. Stay hydrated, kids!
