Watch Green Day's First Day in the Studio
You’d have to be a pretty big Green Day fan to get excited about a 20-second montage of Green Day in the studio—but fortunately for the evergreen punk trio, they have a lot of huge fans uber-excited to see any footage of the band working on their upcoming album.
Soaring past 30,000 views in under 24 hours, this first tease of the boys working on their ninth album kicks off with the battle cry, “Day one: Fire!”
When Billie Joe Armstrong entered the Oakland studio on February 14, he was a bit more to the point, Tweeting: “Officially started recording the new record today. It's F--- TIME!!!!" So, you know, keep that in mind!
“It’s F--- Time” is more than just a call to action, though—it’s the title of a song they’ve been playing in concert as their side project Foxboro Hot Tubs. Will this Foxboro ribald (and awesome) song get an official release on Green Day’s next album?
PS: The non-rockin' dude in the video is Rob Cavallo, who produced almost every Green Day album and is presumably working on this one.
