Garbage: “Blood for Poppies”
The first single from Not Your Kind of People starts out as a sick, nearly-funky rocker until it slides into an all-too-slick chorus. “Poppy” is exactly the right word here, and it feels a bit forced.
Melanie Fiona ft. Snoop Dogg: “Gone (La Dada Di)”
This Canadian R&B artist manages to straddle that line between technical prowess and heartfelt delivery, while Snoop delivers a verse about banging her on the floor. So there you go! [Prefix]

In spite of the song’s title, these Maybach Music Group All-Stars actually take turns rapping on the remix of this underground hit. Future is an MC to watch, but the guests make this worth a listen. [XXL]

The Moroccan/Somali/Bronx rapper has a new mixtape out with Jeremy Lin on the cover, presumably to compound the idea of the New York underdog. Given the Knicks’ recent record, that dog might just be staying under. [Prefix]
