Genre Report: Smiths to Reunite if Prime Minister Resigns & More
INDIE: Smiths Will Reunite if David Cameron Resigns
Classic English indie rockers the Smiths hate pretty much all things conservative, especially the UK's conservative ruling coalition, and last night during UK rock magazine NME's awards show, guitarist Johnny Marr said, "We won't be re-forming this week. Maybe if the government stepped down. If this government stepped down, I'll re-form the band. That's a fair trade, isn't it? I think the country would be better off..." This must sting for conservative Prime Minister/huge Smiths fan David Cameron. [NME]
RAP METAL: Weezy & Limp to Drop First Single Next Week
Lil Wayne just announced that Limp Bizkit had signed to his record label Young Money/Cash Money, and it looks like the band and the label are moving swiftly together: label founder Birdman told Billboard that Limp Bizkit's first Cash Money single is coming next week, and it features Lil Wayne. Birdman said, "It's rock, but it's hip-hop-rock. I think we got that hip-hop-rock swagger." I can't wait. Seriously. Can not wait.
COUNTRY: Star Literally Stuck Under His Own Stage
2012 GRAMMY nominee Eric Church, who's on his first arena tour, experienced a pretty unusual production snafu during his second show on the tour: the way the show starts is that the arena cuts the lights and then Eric climbs up some stairs and onto the stage. The problem at this particular show was that the stairs were attached to the stage backward, so Church couldn't climb them! He said, "So I had to actually crawl under the stage with my guitar. It ended up being about seven minutes underneath the stage when people are sitting out there in the dark." Sounds spooky! [Country Weekly]
HIP HOP: Superstars Drop Video for Upcoming Movie
Think Like A Man, the new movie based on Steve Harvey's best-selling book Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man, comes out on April 20th, and Jennifer Hudson and Ne-Yo wrote the movie's title song. Today that song gets a video, which also features Rick Ross. Like the movie, it's office-themed, and it also contains some clips from the movie. Rick Ross is wearing what looks like a snakeskin hoodie, so it's worth checking out just for that. Check it out below.
