Bon Iver & Flaming Lips Collabo: Indie Folk on LSD
As we previously mentioned, the Flaming Lips have an upcoming Record Store Day release with an absolutely bonkers list of guest artists that includes Yoko Ono, Ke$ha, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Erykah Badu.
We've already heard (and heard the behind-the-scenes story on) the Lips' track with Neon Indian, and just today another one of their curio collabos—“Ashes In the Air” with Bon Iver—hit the webs.
Here’s what is sounds like….
Musically: Spaced out guitars, echo-y folk crooning and toy army drumming.
Lyrically: Lips singer Wayne Coyne and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon croon about robot dogs, “skeletons dueling with wires” and they swear a lot.
But don’t take my word for it. Listen to the track above to hear what happened when Vernon rubbed his tweed suit elbows against that white suit Coyne hasn't taken off for the last 12 years.
