Katy Perry Insults Beyoncé & Shakira
Rap beef happens all the time, but diva beef is a rare pop culture treasure. So we're psyched about Katy Perry's recent passive-aggressive shot at Beyoncé and Shakira while discussing an upcoming collaboration with longtime BFF Rihanna. Rihanna and Perry are taking their friendship into the studio with a new single, and yesterday, Perry spoke to BBC Radio 1 about the song.
"We’ve collaborated on a lot of things, but just not songs yet," said Perry. "It’s one of those things that’s got so much build up that we have to deliver. I want it to be like that Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin song 'Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves,' not 'Beautiful Liar.' But I definitely want to do something that is so iconic." "Beautiful Liar" is the 2007 collaboration between Shakira and Beyoncé that, we guess, Katy Perry thought was wack.
What do you think? Should Katy Perry refrain from insulting Queen B and Shakira? Or was "Beautiful Liar" crappy, and that justifies it?
