Los Angeles rockers Silversun Pickups recently said their new album, Neck of the Woods, sounds like “a horror movie.” And now the first single from the album has arrived online in advance of its official May 8 release, and it's called [drum roll, please]: "Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)." How fitting. And, yes, it certainly sounds a little, well, frightening. But in a good way. Listen above.
On "Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)," the quartet bring the noise. Working with producer Jacknife Lee (U2, R.E.M.), the band balance washes of atmospheric shoegaze (which they're known for) with colossal pop hooks. It's big. It's noisy. It's pretty.
