Exciting news from the Green Day camp. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong just took to Twitter to drop some VERY interesting tidbits about the band's follow-up to 2009's 21st Century Breakdown.
"Ok. Here's the deal," wrote Armstrong. "We're making a 3 album trilogy. Not 1. Not 2. But 3 albums. Called ¡UNO! ¡DOS! ¡TRE! Coming September November January."
A statement followed shortly after to confirm the exact release dates; ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! will drop September 25, November 13 and January 15, respectively. The statement also explained that the albums are being recorded in the band's hometown of Oakland, CA, with longtime producer Rob Cavallo.
"We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives. This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming," Green Day said in the statement. "Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can't help ourselves... We are going epic as fuck!"
Well, it doesn't get much better than that for hardcore fans, does it? Nope.
So far the band has been releasing teaser videos from the studio. First they unveiled a snippet documenting their first day back in the studio, then they dropped a mysterious video with bits of audio from their next record. Watch both below.
