Kraftwerk Reveal New Album With Briefest Announcement Ever
Kraftwerk just made the most succinct album announcement in all of music history. When The New York Times asked Kraftwerk founder Ralf Hütter when fans could expect another album from the electronic pioneers, Hütter offered one word: "Soon."
Ah, German efficiency! An announcement that is definitive, yet completely uninformative. The Times says he refused to elaborate any further, although he did offer up this enigmatic, very German statement: "We didn’t fall asleep… the 168-hour week is still going on since the beginning, since 1970."
I have no idea what that means and I wouldn't be surprised if Hütter doesn't, either. But I love that Kraftwerk is still recording and releasing music. That's an excellent consolation for those of us who sat in front of a computer for hours trying to get tickets to see their MoMa show even though it sold out in minutes.
Excited for a new Kraftwerk album? This probably means they'll tour behind it, jah?
