5 Best Versions of French Montana's Megahit "Shot Caller"

French Montana's "Shot Caller," a track off his mixtape Casino Life: Mr. 16, which came out on January 3, 2011, was inescapable on New York streets last spring and summer. Partially because of its insistent horn blasts, you could hear it coming down Flatbush Avenue from like 10 blocks away.

In the year since that tape dropped, French Montana has blown up, with "Shot Caller," as his calling card (sorry). He decided to include the song on his mixtape Coke Boys 2, which came out on August 29, 2011, almost eight months after he first released it.

And then French Montana started issuing official remixes of "Shot Caller." A lot of them. So many of them that it's crazy that one song can have so many remixes. So I collected the five most notable! One's of them's not an official remix, but it's worth inclusion. Anyway!

5. The remix featuring Diddy and Rick Ross is just wack compared to the original. Sorry, but someone had to say it. French comes with a weak verse, Diddy and Rick Ross give it 110% between the two of them, and everybody loses. I should include this because the video looks real nice though. Don't listen below.

4. This New York Giants Super Bowl remix has its heart in the right place but it's just corny.

3. Young Jeezy spits correctly on this remix, which he shares with only French.

2. Kool A.D. from Das Racist takes this song to another level, and then jumps up five more levels after that, and then he really gets going.

1. French Montana's NYC remix finds a whole crew of New York rappers who never quite reached rap's A-List helping propel French Montana there. It just dropped today (April 6) so get used to hearing it on New York rap radio until, you know, the next remix drops.
